Because of the environmental impact or because it took up land for crops? Isn't it amazing to find these family stories demonstrating that we're not the first generation(s) to struggle with tough times? I'd love to see you roll out some more information from the diary. I've got the transcript of one of my grandpa's journal...it helped inspire my blog, which is dedicated to him! Why was cotton forbidden?
